Heads Together Board
I am a qualified solicitor but have now retired from practice. I am running my own sports consultancy and sports coaching company; a decision that has meant a better work/life/enjoyment balance.
I am looking to provide sporting opportunities for disabled young people and adults for a truly inclusive approach to the benefits of participation in sport. I have a good working knowledge of grant funding for sport and I mentor young coaches.
Having been at the very first Heads Together performance in 1986, I guess I'm their longest serving groupie. I've followed their progress ever since.
I've been involved in adult education for over 30 years, training trade union, and community activists - I've also been politically active all my adult life.
Based at Northern College, I'm passionate about education as empowerment.
Other passions - I do get very passionate - include growing vegetables (just an excuse for the real passion - making compost!), recycling, mountain walking and still managing to play squash.
I am married and have one daughter Hannah who is almost 18 and currently looking to go to Uni to study Community Music and English.
I became involved with Heads Together after Hannah joined ELFM almost 4 years ago and have become particularly involved in the Chapel development.
I've been a full time civil servant for over 25 years and have worked in various departments, most recently the Home Office where I am a Finance Project Manager working closely with the Voluntary sector. I'm also community Governor at Temple Moor High School in Leeds, currently chairing the Resources committee so its just as well I have lots of experience in managing budgets as well as staff!
I love live music, reading, doing jigsaws, social networking but at the moment my weekends are taken up with University visits!
