It has never been easy for Heads Together to define the work it does - community arts; participatory arts; arts for cultural development are all terms that have been used but mean little to most people.
We talk about "inspiring a creative vision" and "creativity with purpose" but of course we can never quite be sure whether it makes any sense.
So in 2004 we undertook a telephone survey of a range of people who had dealings with the Company and asked them what we did. There was a range of responses but we were very pleased to see that most people were able to explain their understanding of our work. From creative interventions to being media agnostic - we thought you might be interested in our summary of their responses - just have a look at the pdf file
Very occasionally, we accept short-term placements. It can be hard work on both sides often they just don't get it! But sometimes we find we've learnt something from them, as well as (hopefully) the other way round. You might want to have a look at how Helen found us recently on a quiet week - it's a pdf file - we recently heard she'd graduated with a first and we hope she's coming back to some more work with us. And Molly, from Holmfirth High School, made us realise that there was one very special skill you need to develop at Heads Together ... Molly's letter
