Midsummer Night's Cruise

Back in 1992 one of the first major public projects undertaken as part of the Self-Image Project involved two canal barges, a brass band, an opera singer, flaming torches, walking on water and pie and peas.

Students from the Transition To Work Course worked with students from Leeds Polytechnic and school-children from Leeds and Bradford to create a performance in Hirst Woods. The audience travelled up the canal from Saltaire in two specially commissioned barges and 400 local people came down to the woods for a big surprise!

It was all rounded off in the Fishermans Pub with Pie and Peas all round for a job well done.
